About Me

My name is Jennifer Cook. First and foremost, I am the proud mother of 17 year old, twin girls. They are my pride and joy!
My other job is working for Palm Springs Unified School District as a full-time PAR/BTSA consulting teacher. I think I have the best job in the district. I love helping new teachers clear their credentials utilizing the RIMS-BTSA program, as well as supporting them through their daily challenges. In addition to working with new teachers, I get to work with PAR teachers. PAR teachers are teachers that have received poor evaluations for one reason or another, and I get to help them to improve their teaching practice. All of the teachers I work with are fantastic people, and I truly enjoy getting to know them and work with them.
When I am not working full-time with PAR and BTSA teachers, I am in the classroom. I adore working with the little ones. I have taught kindergarten, first and second grades in the classroom, as well as K-5 intervention, and K-5 Reading Specialist.
I have always been intrigued by technology as well. I have been teaching for 21 years and I am just amazed by the technological advances that have happened in just that amount of time. We have gone from zero computer usage in classrooms, to making our own web pages and blogs so that we can communicate with parents and teachers around the world. There is so much we do now with technology, that it's hard to imagine we survived without it!!! I recently went to an inservice offered by our district exploring web presence. That has spurred me on to create this website/blog in order to provide my BTSA teachers with resources and to keep them all up to date and on the same page. I am hoping that new teachers from across the country will find some of the resources valuable as well!
